THE NATIONAL CATHEDRAL CAN WAIT !! BETTER OUR LIVES !!

Image
Kwasi Boateng writes Is this the change government was preaching about before elections? I have been having sleepless nights over the construction of the National Cathedral. I ask myself,  is it not the right time when this money could benefit those in the rural areas? Just take time off your busy schedule and visit a village around and you will see how some Ghanaians are struggling to survive while others are being selfish. Those in the rural areas are equally human beings and are entitled to equal rights and privileges, but they have bad roads, improper health facilities, poor infrastructures among other social amenities.  Yet, government is going to spend so much building National cathedral. Do we need national cathedral at this end time? Building the national cathedral would not make Christians more righteous nor make others turn from their bad ways. I believe the fundamental human rights in Ghana is based on values including: fairness, respect, equality of persons

The Ama Ata Aidoo Centre for Creative Writing at the African University College of Communications

The Ama Ata Aidoo Centre for Creative Writing was established March 17, 2017 as a learning facility at the African University College of Communications in Adabraka, Accra in honor of the legendary writer. Under the auspices of the Kojo Yankah School of Communication at AUCC, the AidooCentre has since then created numerous opportunities for literary connection and exchange and stimulated cultural expression, primarily in the Accra city area. Our Vision The AidooCentre was established to increase literacy in Ghana by encouraging critical reading and creative writing. This it does by primarily nurturing book and reading clubs, making literature available to their members, and connecting readers to authors of their favorite books. LICENSURE EXAMINATION FOR TEACHERS .YAY OR NAY

Image
In my considered opinion, I think imploring on teachers to undertake a licensure exams as a means of ensuring quality education delivery is a great idea and therefore it is imperative that we commend the government for such a brilliant initiative. However, if the government presumes that the passing of a licensure exams alone is what is going to guarantee quality education delivery in Ghana then the government has gotten it all wrong. There are other pressing factors which are equally important which in my modest opinion should be tackled first. The challenges confronting quality education delivery are multifactorial and therefore the need for a holistic approach. Let us take a look at the following: First and foremost, let us critically analyze the kind of students who enter the training college to be trained as teachers. It is a norm and a fact without contention that students considered as the most "intelligent" proceed to the university upon completion of senior high

GOD'S CATHEDRAL OR AKUFO ADDO'S LEGACY

Image
Ato Afful writes This controversy about the national cathedral. Is it a case of building a temple for God as done in the days of old by the biblical Kings or it's just an issue of misplaced priorities? What exactly is God's mind on this issue? Any arguments devoid of the mind of God is flawed and worthless. Has the president heard from God that He wants a cathedral and for what? How did he hear the Almighty's voice, if that's the case. Was it through a dream, a personal conviction or it happened like the days of Father Abraham? Wait oooo. Are we saying the proposed cathedral is important or unnecessary? Won't Muslims demand a national mosque? How about the traditional religion folks too? Someone please tell me the exact purpose. I'm naive lol Ah now wait a minute. Let me ask. Will people be employed and paid by the tax payer to man the facility? Or volunteers go do the job? 🤔 Herh. Me I've folded my arms with ears wipe open and mouth shut as I o

Isaac “The Royal Storm” Dogboe defeats Hidenori Otake a Japanese boxer and retains his WBO Bantamweight title. Isaac Dogboe became Ghana's brightest ever boxing champion after knocking out Jessie Magdaleno in Philadelphia last April to make him the new WBO super bantamweight titleholder. His boxing records are lifting the image of Ghana Boxing Federation higher. Dogboe known for his boxing prowess last Saturday stepped in the ring with Japanese boxer Hidenori Otake to defend his WBO Bantamweight title Otake was floored by a series of punches in the first round. Otake tried to redeem himself by launching few jabs and hooks but got knockdown by the champ again. More punches from the world champion forced the referee on the night to stop then fight leaving Isaac Dogboe to go home with a technical knockout (TKO). The night grew young but Isaac 'The Royal Storm' Dogbe stood tall. In an interview with Joshua Clottey, former I

The Value Of Family Heritage: (Inspiration From My Grandma)

It was last December when I travelled back to Sunyani, a city in the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana. I have an affinity for my grandparent’s house here. A nicely sorted garden sits far in the front yard, with planted veggies, assortment of herbaceous plants and surrounding trees (around the house too). One sunny day, we were idly sitting in front of the house having a nonchalant conversation about life. “When I was younger than you are now, I was already working at the market (with little to no real education), devoted to earning a living for my family…” Like a tranquil flow of tides, her voice drifted into my senses as my mind wandered back in time to when my grandma was young. Every life is a story. Whenever our parents or grandparents tell us about theirs, we can identify similarities between them and see certain patterns. There is always a glimpse of wisdom in these patterns, these stories. That’s why people say wisdom is like fine wine—it takes time to age. I’m alway

Stepping Outside Our Comfort Zone

FOKA: Stepping Outside Our Comfort Zone :           When you take responsibility for your life, serendipitous events unfold and lead you to awaken your inherent wisdom. Getting out of your comfort zone is hard because as humans we have the tendency to expect the worst-case scenario of every situation within which we find ourselves. Your brain wants to keep you safe, so you have a natural bias towards any perceived or actual negative event. When you’re evaluating whether or not to take action and you receive negative information, it influences you more strongly than equally positive information, restricting us from stepping out of our comfort zones ...Read more.

Eid al-Adha: Everything you need to know

Image
Source: Ghana | Myjoyonline.com | Zaina Adamu  To greet a Muslim on this day, simply say “Eid Mubarak.”           Tuesday, 21 August marks Eid al-Adha , an Islamic holiday also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice.” The holiday is the first of four days when Muslims sacrifice meaningful things to them, typically sheep, cows, chickens and goats, which they slaughter, cook and share with family, friends and the poor. Eid al-Adha also marks the end of Dhu al-Hijjah, the 10-day pilgrimage Muslims take to Mecca. Hajj is a pilgrimage all Muslims must take at least once in their lives. Below is everything you need to know. Why is it celebrated? In a dream, God ordered Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his most beloved – his only son, Ismail. Prophet Ibrahim told his son about the dream, to which Ismail agreed to be used as a sacrifice. The Prophet and his wife traveled to Mecca, where they planned to perform the deed. As Prophet Ibrahim prepared to kill his child, God replaced his son
