Jose Mourinho Sacked
Manchester United have confirmed
the sacking of manager Jose Mourinho less than a year after extending his contract
with the club. The Official Club statement read "Manchester United
announces that manager Jose Mourinho has left the club with immediate effect. The
club would like to thank Jose for his work during his time at Manchester United
and to wish him success in the future." A new caretaker manager will be
appointed until the end of the current season, while the club conducts a
thorough recruitment process for a new, full-time manager." Michael
Carrick is set to takeover as interim manager until a replacement is announced.
United are languishing in the 6th spot with just 26 points from 17 matches and 19
points behind league leaders Liverpool who United lost to over the weekend. Off
field fractions Paul Pogba has not helped Mourinho as well as a much publicized
fall out with club chief Ed Woodward. Its another case of third season syndrome
for the Portuguese who has struggled to make a telling impact in his 3rd
season not for the first time in his managerial career after disappointing 3rd
seasons with Real Madrid, Chelsea in
both spells and now Manchester United. It remains a mystery as to who takes up
the reigns at Old Trafford with bookmakers placing Zinedine Zidane at a
whooping 2/1 to be
the next united manager. Mauricio Pochettino follows at 3/1.
