GENERAL DETAILS FOR ALL NOMINEES
Nominees must be students in our Tertiary Institutions, who have made a difference in their community by providing positive examples for their generation. Candidates should be considered for outstanding contributions to their school, community and/or Ghana for a project that the individual initiated, organized or contributed to significantly.


SELECTION CRITERIA
The UMB Ghana Tertiary Awards 2018 Selection Committee (Academy) is interested in receiving nominations forms attached with a passport picture, evidence (Video, Documents, Picture, Audio) that focus on the Student’s individual achievements in the areas of education, social action, entertainment and positive change.


CRITERIA
Qualifications for the 2018 UMB Ghana Tertiary Awards entails a Student and African, a significant achievement holder, a change maker and one that demonstrate ethical and socially accepted principles. There is no academic qualification barrier, meaning any student in our Tertiary Institutions is eligible to apply for the UMB Ghana Tertiary Awards 2018. The completion of the nomination form with attached EVIDENCE(VIDEO, AUDIO, DOCUMENTS) will give the academy the opportunity to understand the student’s accomplishments, positive demeanor, and community involvement. This will be the core information used in the selection process.

SOLUTIONS TO THESE IMPENDING ISSUES ARE AS FOLLOWS ; Place bins at vantage points – It has been said that, the last time this was tried, the bins were stolen. Unpatriotic Ghanaians shouldn’t stop us from living well. Police the beaches- Beaches must be policed, cleaned and preserved – Seriously, the idea of fish fattened on poop is not natural or funny. It is not a worthy cultural practice either. It should stop. The sight of adults and children constantly shitting at our coastline is one of the quickest ways of spreading disease and degrading the seabed. Every home must have a toilet facility – In 2019, open defecation should be unacceptable to all Ghanaians. This must be the law. No landlord should be allowed to rent out rooms if they do not have a  toilet facility. “FIX THE TRAFFIC LIGHTS OR STEP DOWN”– CONCERNED ROAD USERS TO THE UPPER EAST REGIONAL MINISTER The capital town of the Upper East Region, Bolgatanga, roads has been decorated with all kinds of traffic lights but none of them are functioning. This makes users of the road: both drivers and pedestrians feel uncomfortable anytime they are using these major roads in their daily businesses in the town. They believed that the traffic lights are just on the various road points for beautification and not to help pedestrians to minimize road accidents. According to Mr Razak, a spokesperson for Bolgatanga Youth Movement (BYM), they have been complaining about the poor nature of the traffic lights to the Regional Minister and the Municipal Chief Executive, but they have turned a blind eye on it.
