THE CURRENT SITUATION OF FILTH IN GHANA

The Republic of Ghana is found in West Africa. It was the first west African country to gain independence from its colonial master called The British. Over the decades, Ghana has been struggling with issues of filth which happens to be the worst social crisis it faces. Despite efforts put in by various governments, individuals and civil society groups, the menace keeps escalating.
One of the main causes of poor hygiene is dumping of filth at unauthorized places. Some of these places where these actions do take place in abundance is in Greater Accra which is the capital of Ghana.

Authorities in charge of this have been rendered useless by those people i call disobedient citizens and foreigners. Everyone thinks he or she pays tax. Besides they don’t see what the government does with their taxes that they do pay, forgetting the environmental hazards from dirty environments will affect us all. Another issue is flooding which is due to un-authorize building of settlement and dumping of waste at open places which causes flooding such as the 3rd June disaster in Ghana which lead to the death of so many people. May their souls rest in perfect peace.

Lastly is the issue of open defecation at unclosed areas closer to  where people live. Viewers discretion advised.

These issues have affected our Social, Economic, Religious and Educational credibility. According to the Chronicle newspaper, the World Bank was thinking of cutting down aids to Ghana because of its state of filth. It was also upset with the inability of authorities to end the practice of open defecation.
