GHANA-US MILITARY DEAL: THE MOST STUPID THING TO HAPPEN IN GHANA IN RECENT TIMES

When I heard of the Ghana-US Military Deal two days ago, two things cam to mind: the welcome of Guantanamo Bay prisoners by the previous Governments two years ago and the pledge by the current president of Ghana to help the United States fight terrorism.

Before I tackle Ghana’s stupidity, I am wondering why citizens of the United States have not held multiple demonstrations against the US Government for deciding to dump their citizens in a sh*thole. Why will the US President agree to have his army train in a sh*thole at all? Is he not aware that conditions here are unfavorable? Maybe, training in unfavorable conditions makes you tougher.

Now, back to the issue! The Minister of Defense, Dominic Nitiwul came out to say that this deal that will give the US Army unrestricted access to some facilities in Ghana was started by the NDC Government.

In his statement, he said “We haven’t sold Ghana, they are the people who sold Ghana”. It is important to note that he also said “The NDC went to sign this thing in the dark… but we said we will take it to Parliament before we will sign it.”

Is that not pathetic? So the NDC decided to “sell Ghana” in the dark and you have decided to save Ghana by selling it in the light! Congratulations, Hon. Minister. Thank you for your kind heart. You are worth revering.

For now, the Minister and the US Embassy in Ghana have dismissed the setting up of a military base in the country but let’s wait and see! My mind has not been constructed to trust any of them. One is being hypocritical by signing a deal with a sh*thole while the other wants to sell its country in the light.

If nothing changes about this agreement and it pulls through, this would be the most stupid decision to have ever been made in Ghana; even more stupid and crazy than making Mahama the President of Ghana in 2012.
